90+5 FULL-TIME: And that's it! A first win in 2013 for Chiefs, and it proves three vital points as they go back to the top of the PSL standings! I hope you enjoyed it, I'm Ryan Gordon wishing you a great rest of your weekend. Cheers All!
90+3 Corner for Chiefs to defend here, but it's straight at Khune who is quick to release the hosts on a quick counter, but Parker's eventual shot from the edge of the area won't threaten the goal.
90 Five minutes is the amount of time to be added on here at the end of the game, and that will have the Amakhosi faithful sweating for longer than they would have wanted.
89 We're into the final minute of normal time, and Stars will surely throw everyone forward in the closing stages.
86 Final change for Stars now with four minutes remaining, Moeketsi Mvula coming on in place of Fikru Lemessa, whose wonderstrike now seems a distant memory.
84 That is a wonderful goal from Bernard Parker, but there's some controversy surrounding it as the free-kick should not have been awarded, given the fact the challenge had been a really good one. However, the set-piece stood, and the Bafana striker duly curled home a sumptuous effort to put Chiefs into the driving seat.
83 GOAL! Kaizer Chiefs 2-1 Free State Stars! Bernard Parker!
82 A free-kick for Chiefs now in a great area, some 20 yards out, although replays show the challenge leading up to the set-piece was a legal one...
81 SUBSTITUTION: Change for Stars now, with Mbhuyiselo Sambu coming on in place of Luyola Nomandela.
77 There's a touch of fortune to it, but the Chiefs fans won't care one bit! Siphiwe Tshabalala's free-kick is disappointing, and flies off the wall to Bernard Parker. The Bafana Bafana striker then fires a wayward effort at goal, but Reneilwe Letsholonyane makes no mistake with his accuracy, thumping his header home from the centre of the penalty area!
76 GOAL! Kaizer Chiefs 1-1 Free State Stars! Reneilwe Letsholonyane!
75 Here's a really good chance for Chiefs from a free-kick 20-yards out, and right in front of goal...
74 SUBSTITUTION: Final throw of the dice for Stuart Baxter now as he brings up-and-comer Lucky Baloyi on for Siyabonga Nkosi.
72 Moments later and Majoro brings a save out of Mweene, although the striker's effort was hit into the ground and the keeper would have been expected to make that his.
71 Chiefs have finally settled down after conceding that goal, and they put together a lovely move down the wing, although the defenders were quick to crowd out the area, resulting in the delivery from out wide not finding its target.
69 Bernard Parker shows his frustration with a a reckless challenge on Enva Wiltwer, although all that does is eat down the clock for Ea Lla Koto. Still more than 20 minutes to go in this one though, so at the moment nothing is guaranteed.
68 SUBSTITUTION: Change for Stars now as the lively Dove Wome is brought off, Noah Chivuta coming on as his replacement.
67 It appears to be the game to try the audacious, as Lehlohonolo Majoro now goes for an unthinkable volley, but his standing foot gets in the way, leaving the Bafana striker swinging at thin air.
66 SUBSTITUTION: Another change for Chiefs now, with Kingston Nkhatha making way for Sthembiso Ngcobo.
64 Dove Wome lets fly with another long-range effort, but this one too is straight down the throat of Khune who holds on well.
62 A corner for Chiefs now is completely wasted as Nkosi can only head a decent chance well wide at the near-post.
59 Parker with a shot from range now, although his effort is also overcooked and won't trouble the goalkeeper.
57 Siphiwe Tshabalala looks to level matters in equally sensational form after controlling in space and hammering his volley goalwards from well outside the area, but he can't get the dip he needs and his effort flashes over the crossbar.
55 Chiefs threaten with a corner which is flicked on at the near-post, but there's no one in black and gold attacking the ball and Stars can watch it go out for a throw.
54 SUBSTITUTION: Chiefs look to change things up now as the largely ineffective George Lebese is off for Lehlohonolo Majoro.
51 Instant contender for goal of the season from today's in-form striker, Fikru Lemessa! He's standing on the angle of the area and receives a flick-on before selling his marker with a mick one way, before taking a touch to set himself the other and lashing a superb strike which flew over the goalkeeper and into the very top corner of the net. Sensational strike!
50 GOAL! Kaizer Chiefs 0-1 Free State Stars! Fikru Lemessa!
48 A very scrappy start to the second-half here, with only some wayward passing outnumbering the niggling fouls that are starting to creep in.
46 And we're back up and running at Soccer City! No changes to tell you about at the break, so lets hope the 22 out there can pay back the faith shown by their respective coaches.
45+2 HALF-TIME: The referee brings the opening 45 minutes to a close with the sides still level at 0-0. Join me after the break to find out if either side can find a way though in the second period.
45 Back-to-back corners for Chiefs keep Stars on their toes in the final moments of this half, but they're unable to make the most of them with some more wayward finishing. Meanwhile, there will be two minutes of time added on here at the end of the half.
44 Another free-kick for Amakhosi now, in a similar position as the previous one, and this time it's a bit more dangerous and the defenders are forced to play it behind.
42 Speaking about wasted chances, here another one from Chiefs as Tshabalala floats his free-kick into a really dangerous area, but Siyabonga Nkosi can't direct his header and sends the ball over the crossbar.
41 Chiefs have enjoyed the lion's share of possession in the first-half, leading that statistic 65% to Stars' 35%, although both sides have been equally threatening, and wasteful, with their chances.
40 Sadate Ouro-Akorika is down and stays down following a challenge in the area, but he's back up on his feet and should be okay to soldier on here this evening.
37 Catching practice for Khune now as Dove Wome goes lets fly from 30 yards out, and he'll have to do a lot better than that to beat the Bafana Bafana number-one from there.
36 There's been plenty of action so far in this match, although it's the final ball that has been lacking from both sides, highlighted now by Letsholonyane's weak attempt at a threaded pass which is easily cut out.
33 YELLOW CARD: Meanwhile, some argy-bargy in the midfield now ends with both Siyabonga Nkosi and Angelo Kerspuy seeing yellow following a 22-man melee following a tussle between the two over possession.
31 Chiefs quickly break up the field and Siboniso Gaxa should maybe do better after being teed up by Tshabalala, but he spurns the chance by firing well wide.
30 Fikru Lemessa has looked a threat tonight and he does well to win Stars a free-kick right on the edge of the area. Wome takes kicking responsibilities for this one, but lashes his shot wide of Khune's near-post.
27 Chiefs' turn to threaten now as a delivery into the area comes all the way through to Shabba at the far-post, but his shot is quickly closed down and a potentially dangerous move comes to nothing.
25 Another chance for Stars now as Luyola Nomandela picks up the ball in midfield before running at goal with real purpose, but his eventualy shot is off target as he drags his shot wide of the mark.
23 Erick Mathoho showing quite a bit of attacking intent in this game, and he's just tested Kennedy Mweene with a powerful volley from the edge of the area, although the goalkeeper is well positioned and makes a comfortable save.
22 Moments later and Free State Stars almost broke through as Dove Wome lost his man with a nice drop of the shoulder, but his next touch was a heavy one and allowed Itumeleng Khune to break off his line and just get to the ball ahead of the forward.
20 Masilela's search for a first PSL goal for Chiefs continues as he drags a decent chance wide from just inside the area.
19 FEEDBACK: We've got our first caller, Siyabonga from Johannesburg emailing: Amakhosi to make this one easy and their own! 2-0 to the GLAMOUR BOYZ!!!
17 Mathoho almost plays himself into a world of trouble after he mis-controls to allow Nomandela to get a sniff, but the Chiefs man does well to readjust his body to just get across the ball to clear.
14 Stars win their second corner of the evening, but Angelo Kerspuy's delivery is not very good and doesn't clear the first defender.
13 Dove Wome and Fikru Lemessa play a nice little dummy and one-two, but Mashamaite is all too aware of their intentions and comes across well to intercept.
10 Mathoho now shows his real qualities at the other end of the pitch, sliding in well to nip the ball off Dove Wome who was threatening to break in on goal.
9 Erick Mathoho is allowed to jog completely unchallenged from his own half into a shooting opportunity, but he doesn't get quite the contact he was looking for and scuffs his shot into a crowd of bodies.
8 Luyola Nomandela looks to work something for Free State Stars down the right wing, but some excellent defending from Tsepo Masilela sees the full-back pick-pocket the winger of possession to send the hosts on an attack of their own.
6 The stadium isn't exactly packed this evening, but the fans who have made their way down are in fine voice and you can expect them to keep it up for the entire 90 minutes.
4 Really good move from Amakhosi now as Reneilwe Letsholonyane plays a defence-splitting ball through for Tsepo Masilela, but his cross to the far-post is overcooked and the visitors can clean up the loose ball.
3 Bernard Parker goes for goal from some 30 yards out, but he hits his effort straight at the wall.
2 Chiefs get off to a lively start and Siphiwe Tshabalala wins the hosts a free-kick in a promising area following a barraging run through the middle of the park...
1 And here we go at Soccer City!
For Stars, Kennedy Mweene will skipper the side from between the sticks, while Paulus Masehe continues his education as a midfielder after being converted from a centre-back.
So, Tsepo Masilela overcomes injury to start for Chiefs tonight, while Siyabonga Nkosi comes in for Josta Dladla in one of two changes to the side that drew against Sundowns, with the other being Kingston Nkhatha starting in place of Lehlohonolo Majoro, who is on the bench.
We're less than 10 minutes from the kick-off now and the two sets of players are ready to be led out in the Johannesburg evening for what promises to be a thrilling Premiership encounter.
FEEDBACK: I'll be here all evening, so why not keep me some company and email your thoughts to ryan.gordon@teamtalkmedia.com, or drop us a message on Facebook via http://www.facebook.com/Football411
Free State Stars, meanwhile, began 2013 in style by firing three unanswered goals past Chippa United to solidify their place in fourth, while they sit just nine points behind the Buccaneers at the start of play.
Chiefs will be looking to reclaim their place at the top of the PSL standings, with their goalless draw against Mamelodi Sundowns in midweek having allowed Orlando Pirates to take over at the top with victory over SuperSport United.
