FT It's all over here and South Africa have been defeated by 2012 AFCON Champions Zambia. A bit of a disjointed performance from the hosts but still some promising aspects to take out of it. Thank you for joining us and good night.
Earlier Khune had made a relatively comfortable low save to deny Mbesuma.
90 There will be four minutes added on here...
90 So close for Bafana as Mweene denies Erasmus with a good save from the edge of the box before Chabangu's effort from close range is deflected behind.
89 Khumalo definately clipped the heels of Mbesuma as he beat the Bafana captain and raced into the box.
88 Yellow card to Nthethe.
87 Zambia should have had a penalty there but the referee waves play on...
86 Some neat one-touch football there until Erasmus' pass to Letsholonyane is underhit and Zambia clear.
84 It's all a bit scrappy for the moment, with the ball bobbing around in midfield.
81 Modise hits a shot from long range that is deflected away, but Bafana are on the up here, and look like they could grab a late goal...
80 Free-kick to Bafana on the edge of the Zambia box, Nunes takes but his effort only hits the wall. Delron Buckley is on for South Africa.
78 Erasmus is a foot too short to get any real connection on a great far post cross.
77 William Njobvu is on for Chisamba Lungu.
76 Mweene makes a fingertip save to keep out a long range Furman effort from that is deflected.
76 Chamanga comes close to finding a second as a great cross from the left beats Thabo Nthethe inside the box but the Zambia striker just could not get his foot to the ball.
75 Erasmus just stumbles as he looked to whip in a cross from the left hand side with a number of players waiting in the box.
73 Teko Modise comes on for Chabangu.
70 Chamanga has a shot from the right blocked by Khumalo.
67 Bafana try to hit back immediately with Letsholonyane and Chabangu combining well but there are too many defenders in the way as the latter tries to unleash a shot from just outside the box.
65 Reneilwe Letsholonyane repleaces Dikgacoi.
Mbesuma lets rip from the left hand side of the box after some neat build up play from Zambia. The big man was given too much space and he punished Bafana with a fierce drive that flew in at the near post.
64 GOAL: Mbesuma
60 Jonas Sakuwaha replaces Christopher Katongo and Nyambe Mulenga comes on for Isaac Chansa.
57 This is good possession on the edge of the Zambia box from Bafana, until Chabangu smashes high and wide from the right-hand side.
55 Chabangu smashes a shot wide left of the target after Zambia fail to clear their lines following a corner.
55 Emmanuel Mayuka comes on for Davis Nkausu.
53 Thuso Phala comes on for his official debut, in place of Sifiso Myeni.
52 Great chance for Bafana but Mashego puts his first-time shot wide after a good low cross from Chabangu after a neat passage of play from Bafana.
49 Mbesuma tries his luck from distance but that one is well wide of the mark.
48 Bafana have started this half a little bit better but Zambia still look dangerous when in possession.
47 Mashego lets rip with a volley from the left hand side that isn't far off the target.
46 Bafana kick us off...
Kermit Erasmus replaces Bernard Parker for this second half while Jacob Mulenga makes way for Collins Mbesuma.
HT It's ended all square here at half time. It hasn't been the thrilling game we had all hoped for, let's hope there are some goals in the second half...
45 There will be two minutes of added time...
44 Furman makes an important tackle to deny Katongo as he shaped to shoot.
43 Parker is down receiving treatment.
42 After six or seven passes in a patient build-up, Myeni hoofs his cross behind the Zambian goal.
39 YELLOW CARD: Nathan Sinkala for a foul on Myeni.
37 Nunes whips in a cross after a good run down the left hand side but there is no one really to aim at and Zambia can clear.
35 YELLOW CARD: Furman for clipping the heels of Katongo.
34 First real save from Khune from a backward header from Mulenga following a long throw from the right hand side.
32 Mulenga shoots from range and the ball takes a deflection before dropping just behind the goal for a corner. The ball is played across the box to Hichani Himoonde who hits his shot well over the top of the goal.
30 The corner is played short to Chabangu who lets rip with a superb shot that hits the top of the net from the left-hand side.
29 Finally Bafana string a few passes together as Myeni feeds Parker out wide on the left who delivers a decent cross that is deflected out for a corner.
28 Bafana substitution: Katlego Mashego is on for Rantie, who has been stretchered off.
26 It's a very stop-start affair with neither side able to thread too many passes together.
23 Rantie will receive some treatment after going down under a rough challenge.
21 Mulenga goes up for a challenge with Khune and concedes the free-kick.
20 Dean Furman concedes a corner following a well-flighted free-kick. Bafana really on the back foot here...
18 Zambia just starting to get the upper hand here, but Mulenga is off-side that time as he tries to make a run down the right flank.
16 Rantie upends Mayuka on the edge of the box to concede a free-kick - Mayuka curls the ball just wide of Khune's right-hand post.
14 The game has slowed with both sides playing some neat possession football, but in the centre of the park...
12 Isaac Chansa drives forward for Zambia before unleashing a good shot that is plucked out of the air by Itumeleng Khune.
10 Christopher Katongo does well to deliver a cross from the right under pressure from a number of defenders but Anele Ngcongca heads clear.
8 YELLOW CARD: Emmanuel Mayuka for dissent, he wasn't impressed with a poor off-side decision.
7 Bernard Parker comes very close with a rasping drive that flies just over the target from a long way out.
5 Almost an own goal as Stoppila Sunzu is forced to head clear a Chabangu free-kick - but it wouldn't have counted with the referee having blown for an infringement.
4 Bafana overplay in the centre of the park with the ball picked up by Jacob Mulenga who lets rip with a shot that flies high and wide of the target.
3 First set piece for Nunes - it's a decent delivery from the right but Kennedy Mweene punches the ball to safety.
2 It's a rapid start to this match with Ricardo Nunes picking out Tokelo Rantie who in turn finds Thabo Nthethe on the right but his cross to Lerato Chabangu is easily cut out by the Zambian defence.
1 Zambia kick us off...
A moment of silence for Tommy Madigage is beautifully observed.
A short message from both captains about the Nelson Mandela Children's fund precedes the national anthems...
Once the formalities are out of the way the action can begin...
The two teams are making their way onto the pitch ahead of this eagerly awaited match...
ZAMBIA: Kennedy Mweene, Davis Nkausu, Nathan Sinkala, Stoppila Sunzu, Joseph Musonda, Jacob Mulenga, Emmanuel Mayuka, Chisamba Lungu, Christopher Katongo, Hichani Himoonde, Isaac Chansa
SOUTH AFRICA: 16 Itumeleng Khune, 5 Anele Ngcongca, 23 Ricardo Nunes, 5 Thabo Nthethe, 14 Bongani Khumalo, 6 Lerato Chabangu, Sifiso Myeni, 15 Dean Furman, 13 Kagiso Dikgacoi, 17 Bernard Parker, 11 Tokelo Rantie
Fellow Swedish-based player May Mahlangu, though, has not traveled with the team as Igesund revealed he will be looking to test more of his fringe players at Soccer City.
Igesund is likely to give Tokelo Rantie a start against Chipolopolo, the Malmo striker currently not playing any competitive football following the end of Sweden's top-flight season last month.
But this tie against the Copper Bullets will provide Bafana with their biggest African challenge since Igesund took over in August.
The former Moroka Swallows tactician has already led the team to a slender 1-0 defeat in Brazil, a 2-0 win over Mozambique, another 1-0 loss to Poland while their most recent outing ended in a 2-1 success over Kenya.
South Africa qualified for the continental extravaganza courtesy of their status as host nation, giving coach Gordon Igesund the luxury of being able to test different squad members and formations.
Bafana Bafana continue their preparations ahead of the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations with a clash against holders Zambia in the Nelson Mandela Challenge this evening.
